Repeated Games with Almost-Public Monitoring

چکیده
1 This is a substantial revision of ‘‘Repeated Games with Imperfect Private Monitoring: Notes on a Coordination Perspective.’’ That paper was written while Mailath was visiting the Australian National University and Morris was visiting Northwestern University: we thank both institutions for their hospitality. We thank Drew Fudenberg, Michihiro Kandori, and two referees for helpful comments. Mailath gratefully acknowledges financial support from NSF Grant SBR-9810693 and Morris gratefully acknowledges financial support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and NSF Grant SBR-9896328. COORDINATION FAILURE IN REPEATED GAMES WITH ALMOST-PUBLIC MONITORING By
Some private-monitoring games, that is, games with no public histories, can have histories that are almost public. These games are the natural result of perturbing public-monitoring games towards private monitoring. We explore the extent to which it is possible to coordinate continuation play in such games. It is always possible to coordinate continuation play by requiring behavior to have boun...

متن کاملThe Folk Theorem for all Games with Almost Perfect Monitoring
We study repeated games with private monitoring. We prove the folk theorem with discounting for all games assuming that the monitoring is almost perfect and the payoffs satisfy the full-dimensionality condition. We assume no cheap-talk communication between players, no public randomization, and we allow for minmax payoffs in mixed strategies.
متن کاملFolk theorems with bounded recall under (almost) perfect monitoring
A strategy profile in a repeated game has bounded recall L if play under the profile after two distinct histories that agree in the last L periods is equal. Mailath and Morris (2002, 2006) proved that any strict equilibrium in bounded-recall strategies of a game with full support public monitoring is robust to all perturbations of the monitoring structure towards private monitoring (the case of...
